Joshua zilberman professor scott johnson hus 1001 27 january 2013 a future career as a paramedic what specific career am i looking for within the human services field? i've always wanted to be one of those "people who ride around in the ambulances" since i was a child, so i decided to pursue a career as a paramedic. I am currently trying to get my emergency medical technician certificate from edison state, after which i will start my very first job in the medical workforce. This, of course, always looked like a noble and respectable occupation to me. My mother has also been taken from my house to the hospital via ambulance on a few occasions, making me respect the men and women even more for doing their jobs as quickly as possible. What pushed me towards this career as well was the fact that edison state, an actual college i happened to live by, offered such courses at a relatively cheap price; this was a life saver considering that my family did not have the money to push me through an expensive university for four years, and i certainly did not want to end up with so much debt that i would drown in it.

Though we live in an age of information overload, he posits that in the information economy, language is simply a tool for communication rather than a commodity (125). Though valid, this position does seem to contradict with his other observation that information commoditization has taken over from the physical commodities. This implies that words are both a communication medium and a commodity. Though he argues that revising prose is ideal for political judgment, stylistic judgment is critical in capturing human attention which is an essential commodity in the modern attention driven economy (125). Therefore, language only describes things and people and should be as plain as possible so as not to confuse the target audience.
